You step out from a hole in the sky. You seem to be looking down from it. There is an eerie light about. Street lights slowly start to flicker on. One bulb never makes it and gives out with a sharp crack as it bursts.Sparks fly. The cool wind blows and you can hear the autumn foliage rustle in its course. The crisp leaves would crunch if you were to walk upon them. You can see rows and rows of dark houses, their colors dimmed by the still eerily orange light. There are at least five houses per block. You don't know where it's coming from. You notice woods at the edge of the town. They are neither tranquil nor quiet. They are filled with the noises of unheard secrets and whispered sadness. Owls hoot and you can almost feel creatures lurking around every tree. By now you are on the ground on a street not so far from the woods.
There is a sudden sense of urgency. You must get out of the town! You don't know why, but something is coming. You run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. Your heart is beating and the perspiration on your face is blinding, but you dare not stop to wipe it off your face. You've come to the end of the street where you turn a corner. Running and running you continue. A car comes out of nowhere. There seems to be no driver, yet you get in to the passenger's seat, opposite the steering wheel. You are not confused as to why the deserted town spontaneously produces cars out of thin air. The car swerves around dangerously towards the woods. All you can think of is you have a better chance of getting away in the contraption. You are still gasping for air, as the invisible driver steers you into the evil woods.Somehow this seems better than the fate that awaits you if you are caught. Faster and faster the car hurtles on. Trees go by, you seem to be traveling on a cleared, straight path until a tree becomes visible in a clearing. A piercing scream that would curdle even the toughest's blood is heard. You realize it has escaped from your own throat. The driver takes notice a moment to late as you crash into the tree.All you see is a flash of light and hear the rhythmic sound of the blood pounding in your temples. Then there is nothing except... Cloud City.
