Dead Beauty

You come up to a simple light brown door, with its golden handle, and golden hinges. You stretch out your arm and gently pull the handle down. The quietly and smoothly opens. There in front of you is beauty. Long magnificent beaches stretch endlessly in every direction. Accompanied by these wonderful beaches is a marvelous stretch of shimmering clear blue water. The air is quiet and smells of salt. Groups of tall lean palm trees have sprouted along the beaches. Their bodies full of large heavy coconuts. You walk towards the pleasing sight, and your feet glide through the clear water. Your toes sink deep into the smooth white sand and you sigh.

The water never reaches above your knees and you elegantly stride through it. As you approach one of the beaches, you pull your feet out of the water and take a step onto the beach. The sand is crisp and hot, and sticks instantly to your cool feet. You walk up to one of the palm trees and put your hand to its trunk. It feels rough and bumpy. You look directly up and spot a large coconut. You suddenly realize that your stomach is grumbling loudly, so you reach out your hands. You take hold of the firm trunk, and give it a tremendous shake. Countless coconuts start to drop from the tree. They land without a sound on the beach, and you pick one up. You crack it open, and a wonderful smell wafts up to your nose. You drink and fill your stomach until it cannot hold anymore.

You sit up and stretch your arms high in the air. You looks around at the dazzling sight. Something catches your eye on one of the other beaches near a dead drooping palm tree. You start to walk over there; loudly splashing the water as you trudge through it. It becomes deeper and it becomes harder for you to walk. It starts to suddenly rise, reaching you stomach and then your chest. You heart starts beating faster and faster, and you begin to panic. You don't know what's happening and you don't like it. The water finally swallows you and you are forced under. It is quiet and peaceful down there, until you run out of breath. You surface, and swim desperately to the beach. You crawl up the sand gasping for breath.

Then you see it again, something over by the palm tree. You force yourself up and walk over to it. There be the tree is something dead; a grotesque rotting lump of bad smelling meat. You freeze and you inch your way forward. It's repulsive and instantly makes your stomach turn. You feel sick and you throw up right next to it. Yet as you get closer you realize what it actually is. It's a person, all crumpled up like a piece of paper. This makes you gag, and you stumble backward. It truly is a beautiful place but you've had quite enough of it. You look in the direction you came, your eyes dart back and forth trying to make out a door or some kind of exit. But there is none, no way to get out! You start to panic again, and you feel lightheaded. This once beautiful exquisite place has suddenly become totally different, for it is now your doom.

You start to run through the water, and away from everything but it still doesn't work. It's just to perfect and there's too much of it! You head starts to feel heavy and you become extremely dizzy. In a state of panic and shock you become limp in the chest deep water. Your eyes slowly close, and you loose all sense of stability. Your body plunges into the water. As you slowly sink to the bottom small bubbles rise up to the top and explode, and you try to keep your head up. In the last second of your life you see a simple light brown door suddenly appear out of nowhere. This place, this world has been playing with you, playing a game of survival. You become angry and start to cry, but have no time to do anything about it. This is the end.

No person who has ever entered this horrible but beautiful place has ever returned. And yet it still seems quite magnificent, a stupendous landscape full of great wonders and death. It is a place full of mystery and questions not fully explored, and it will never be for no one will ever live to tell about it. It is the land of Dead Beauty...
